Opening Night Invitation | Evoke Exhibition | Peter French

You are warmly invited to join us on Friday 6 May (7pm – 9pm) for the opening night of Peter French’s magnificent solo exhibition, ‘Evoke’.

“Picture images have always dominated my thoughts, evoking and inspiring the urge to get them down on paper. The artworks of Turner, Whistler and other specific artists, let alone everyday visual sights, have always provided a springboard to put those urges into practice. The mix of different media reflects the variety of subject matter and conditions required for portraying them. Whether it is Pen and Ink, Watercolour, Calligraphy or Oil painting there is a means for getting the right effects to the right surface and conveying my thoughts and ideas to others, whilst copying and pasting them to myself.”

Peter French has been a professional artist for 40 years, most of that time selling his work off the railings at Bayswater Road in West London. Artwork is mainly Watercolours and for the last ten years developing into oil painting as well, also pen and ink. Work has been exhibited in various galleries including The Mall Galleries and at the Royal Watercolour Society, Bankside. Some years were spent living and painting in Norfolk with its flat horizons and endless skies, now based in Warminster and enchanted with the west country scenery. Demonstrations of his art practices are given to art societies around the South West.
